A key parameter in DNA microarray technique is the sensitivity and specificity of the interaction between probes and targets, which is a compromise between the “probes” design and the chemistry of the support onto which the probes are fixed. Also, the sensitivity is dependent on the quality of the target including its biological origin, sampling/extraction, labelling and hybridization conditions. Our technology is based on the functionalisation of the support by phosphorus dendrimers. This technology dramatically increases the sensitivity of our DendrisChips.
Figure 3 clearly illustrates the originality of this technology to fabricate our DNA chips termed Dendrislides (red line), as the patterning of the glass slide onto which the probes are linked providing sensitivity i.e. a capacity to detect interaction of a probe with a target that is 10 to 100 times higher than the others with any commercially available functionalized glass slides, used by other potential competitors.
The Functionalisation of the glass slide with dendrimers benefits from three advantages
An increase of the density of probes per unit surface and thus in the number of binding site
A greater accessibility of the target to the probes with hybridization in “3D”, and not 2D like many other activated surfaces, increasing sensitivity.
A greater spacer from the glass surface reducing the unspecific interaction
Fast and accurate IVD kit
The IVD kit available today is depicted in Fig. 1. It includes a Dendriscan (a dedicated scanner) to read the DendrisChip and DendriSoftDiag (diagnosis analysis software) summarizing all know-how of Dendris in biological data analysis.
